Training

Boston Law Collaborative created the BLC Institute in January 2016 to provide training, education, and coaching in all aspects of dispute resolution.

Our programs include:

  • mediation skills – basic and advanced
  • mediation advocacy for lawyers
  • conflict management in the workplace and in public institutions
  • implicit bias

We offer these trainings – designed to fit the needs of clients – in a variety of formats, such as workshops, seminars, and presentations. We also organize lectures, panels, and discussion groups on various topics related to dispute resolution, and distribute written educational materials.

Since 2017, the BLC Institute has offered a variety of interactive workshops on implicit bias. These programs focus on raising individual self-awareness and sharing strategies to counter implicit bias. We have worked with mediators, lawyers, judges, law enforcement, teachers, musicians, parents, and others in open enrollment workshops and in-house programs domestically and overseas. We now offer these programs virtually via Zoom as well.

Previously, the Institute has engaged in community outreach efforts including the Dorchester-Roxbury Community Mediation Initiative, aimed at reviving community mediation as a resource for Dorchester and Roxbury, and a multi-organizational effort to provide mediation services to faith leaders. We welcome other opportunities to partner with communities to provide dispute resolution services.
