Employment Law

BLC handles employment cases involving (a) termination-of-employment, including the negotiation of severance agreements; (b) disputes in which the parties are seeking to preserve the employment relationship; and (c) negotiations over the terms of a new employment relationship. BLC member David Hoffman, who practiced at Hill & Barlow for seventeen years, was a member of that firm's Employment and Labor Law Practice Group and has represented both employers and employees in jury trials and other court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement negotiations.

In most cases, our client's goal is to reach an amicable resolution, because litigation of these claims is not only costly financially but also costly to the reputations of all involved in the dispute. Time is also a factor: the employee often needs to find substitute employment quickly and the employer is seeking to reach closure.
